My first full-size afghan was "Rosy Ribbons", from Leisure Arts' "Mile-A-Minute Afghans." I used a color scheme resembling the one used in the book, using Caron's Wintuk Light Rose, and Caron's Dazzleaire Mulberry. I have memories of crocheting this on the airplane traveling to and from an insulator show, as well as in our hotel room. I also remember meeting a lady at the show who was crocheting granny's daughter squares behind their sales table. One of the reasons I chose this pattern was that the rows were worked width-wise rather than length-wise, sparing me from the dreaded "chain 200", as well as producing less of a striped appearance. |
